An entrepreneur since the age of 19, Alisha earned a cosmetology and cosmetology teacher’s certification and opened her first business, Briali’s Hair Salon, followed by two more salons and a beauty supply store. At just 19, Alisha was experiencing a high level of success, managing approximately fifteen employees and styling the locks of high-profile recording artists and other celebrities, while she also worked artist development gigs under the leadership of the legendary, Andre Harrell, ARISTA and Uptown Records, and Bad Boy Records owned by Sean “Puffy” Combs. Alisha served as a celebrity hairstylist for many years and her clients often appeared in national media outlets including VIBE and SOURCE magazines, print ads for the prestigious Louis Vuitton brand and music videos directed by the acclaimed, Hype Williams.
By 1997, when Alisha welcomed her second child, she was looking to experience success in a new arena. She had won her niche as a hair stylist and was succeeding wildly in it, but there was another interest she longed to pursue - a love of law and real estate. So, in 1998, she began the protracted process of untangling herself from hair so she could entangle herself in real estate. She then obtained her Realtor’s® license in Pennsylvania, where she practiced until 2000, when she relocated to Texas.
In Texas, Alisha found a financial services job with American Express Financial Advisors, where she obtained her Series 7, stockbroker and Series 66 investment advisor licenses.
A year later, at the age of 30, she entered college for the first time! From Collin County Community College, she segued to the University of Texas at Dallas with a six-year plan to complete undergraduate and law school. During this time, she opened PRIS Salon & developed a makeup line, PRIS Cosmetics, to put herself through school while supporting her two growing children.
Alisha entered law school in 2004, where she worked and studied hard for three years, earning her law degree in May 2007. Not one to let grass grow under her feet, in 2008 Alisha entered graduate school to earn a Ph.D. in Criminology.
In 2010, Alisha became a licensed attorney by the State Bar of Texas. She has worked on a contractual basis in the field of EDISCOVERY, providing litigation as a law clerk in Dallas and Houston. Alisha also served as an Instructor of Wills, Trusts and Probate Law, as a Discovery Law Clerk for the Securities Arbitration Division, as a Criminal Defense Law Clerk, and as a Judicial Law Clerk for Administrative Law Title IV Judges Pierce and Torres.
Today, Alisha manages multiples profitable brands she’s founded, including her law firm, Melvin & Associates, PLLC; her real estate firm, Monsoon Real Estate Resource Group; LawyerBlast.com and The Lawyertor, a registered trademark brand.
